Department of Children and Families Sends Letter to Providers

DCF sends letter to Providers regarding the Handbook

The Department of Children and Families (DCF) issued a letter to Child Care Providers today and we wanted to share that letter with you. It contains information regarding the enforcement of a few standards in the 2017 Child Care Facility Handbook.

The letter (below) from DCF references a rule challenge filed last September by FACCM. Our organization filed it on behalf of its members. A final administrative court hearing has been set at the end of September. Until the outcome of that challenge is resolved, the Department of Children and Families will NOT monitor these three standards referenced in the letter.

  • Prohibition on combination sinks
  • First aid training and CPR certification for 100% of staff by October 2019; and
  • Calls to parents/legal guardians within one hour of the child's scheduled arrival if a child is absent and no prior notification is received.
